Hi Alena,
I want to believe the reason marketing and public relations are growing apart in Ukraine now is that the two disciplines have not fully matured there so each is trying to demonstrate its unique identity. In societies like UK and USA where public relations and marketing have reached full maturity and are developing further, the two disciplines find themselves encroaching into one another. I guess when public relations and marketing in Ukraine and other societies where the two disciplines are still maturing reach full maturity and start developing further, the two disciplines will find themselves getting closer than going apart.
The debate on this blog is mainly about whether businesses are out just to make profits and whether their goal of making profits does not conflict with the Corporate social responsibility agenda. Your comments and suggestions are welcomed.

A Mini Book Review of Public Relations: Principles and Practice by Philip Kitchen
This book which is edited by Philip Kitchen examines the different subjects in public relations with contributions from other notable authors. Chapters 13 and 14 were of particular interest to me because they dealt profoundly with the interaction and relationship between marketing and public relations which is the subject under discussion on this blog. The book, especially the above two chapters, has influenced my thinking in the sense that, after reading it I understood the close relationship that exists between public relations and marketing which actually made me see the possibility of an eventual mergence of the two disciplines in future. I will recommend it to both students and practitioners of public relations and marketing.
